About Open Luna

The Open Luna Foundation aims to return mankind to the moon through private enterprise. Initial goals focus on a stepped program of robotic missions coupled with extensive public relations and outreach. Following these purely robotic missions, a short series of manned missions will construct a small, approximately 6 person settlement based on a location scouted by the robotic missions. This settlement will be open for anyone's use (private individuals to government agencies), provided they respect our ethical conduct and heritage policies. Please see our Mission_Overview

About the X-Prize

The Google Lunar X PRIZE is a $30 million international competition to safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon, travel 500 meters over the lunar surface, and send images and data back to the Earth. Teams must be at least 90% privately funded and must be registered to compete by December 31, 2010. The first team to land on the Moon and complete the mission objectives will be awarded $20 million; the full first prize is available until December 31, 2012. After that date, the first prize will drop to $15 million. The second team to do so will be awarded $5 million. Another $5 million will awarded in bonus prizes. The final deadline for winning the prize is December 31, 2014. More can be found at Sponsor's Website. See our plan to win as Mission_X

Okay so I made a Mission_Overview page to link all the mission. I also added a Mission X which is just about winning the X-Prize. I copied the Mission plan from the main openluna page which is a great plan to colonize the moon. But if we want the x-prize winnings to help fund the other steps, then the first mission has to be focused on the X-prize and its requirements. Mission-X and Mission-1 may end up the same, but I think it should be left open at this time.
